Personal Days Every Week in August to Recharge the People Power of SEP2!
Being a company that is Tech Driven and People Powered, it is important to us that the “people power” behind SEP2 is looked after and appreciated. With the past 16 months being difficult for some (if not most!) – the Directors at SEP2 have decided to give our teams some time to rest and recuperate.
We’d noticed that over the last year, people weren’t taking their annual leave unless it was for things like appointments, childcare commitments, etc. as nobody was actually going on holiday due to lockdown and the tier system, which meant people couldn’t leave their local area.
An Extra Thank You
Instead of pushing our employees to take the annual leave they had already accrued, we decided to give our staff an additional 4 days off. During the month of August, our people will be required to take 1 day of “personal time” each week, this day is to be spent however they would like to spend it, whether it be gardening, visiting family, or even getting a (well deserved) lie in! Our team have worked tirelessly throughout the past year and a half and deserve some extra time to wind down and focus on themselves.
Our idea was inspired by the 4-day working week which has been implemented by different countries around the world to increase productivity and general wellbeing of workforces. As well as this, we didn’t want our team to miss out on taking time off as there are many benefits to taking annual leave instead of just for a holiday.
Mental reset
Even one day off is enough to help give your brain a mental reset after a couple of days of hard work. Having a day off to reset will mean when you return to work, your headspace is clearer and you have more capacity to come up with new ideas, complete quick tasks with ease and with a clear mind.
Increased Productivity
After taking a step away from your desk for a moment, it’s always followed by a burst of productivity – so you can imagine the boost after a whole day off! Taking time away from your workspace should allow you to focus better once you return.
Wellbeing
Taking time off allows for better wellbeing, you can spend the time doing whatever you please – if work has been stressful for you, time off allows you to destress however you would like. Whether it be doing something you love, exploring a new hobby, meeting up with friends and family, or just spending time alone. Allowing yourself to destress means you will feel better in the long run and will be less likely to be overwhelmed.
