Overview

In 2022 we built out an exciting SIEM/SOAR and Managed Detection and Response service called SEP2.security, that is growing rapidly through customer demand and is built upon Google Cloud Security’s Chronicle stack.

The Security Intelligence Services team, that this role is situated in, provides security monitoring and use case/playbook implementation on customer tenants, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. This role isn’t a pure analyst role, but the successful candidate will work closely with our analysis team to help deliver excellent service, working in a friendly and helpful team.

This is a full-time position with either travel to the Leeds office once a week or possibility of being remote for the right candidate.

Key tasks

• Detection rule creation, log source onboarding, tuning and building response plans / playbooks.

• Respond to customer requests for security monitoring and recommend / devise detection rules.

• Supporting both in-life services as well as new customers.

• Investigate complex security events and alerts.

• Research threats and vulnerabilities.

• Help to support and mentor our apprentices.

• Contribute to the SIS On Call Rota (approximately 1 week in 5).

Essential Skills/Experience

• Experience as a Cyber SOC Analyst / or similar role.

• Proven experience of delivering positive outcomes on a SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) technology. We use Google Chronicle SIEM/Siemplify SOAR (and LogRhythm), but lateral experience on a different platform is fine.

• Background knowledge in another IT discipline (e.g. Public Cloud, Windows Server, Linux, or Networking).

• Some experience with scripting tools such as Powershell, Python, Bash and RESTful API’s (Application Programming Interfaces).

• Exposure to data manipulation (e.g. Regular Expression, Grok).

This fast paced, dynamic role will give you the opportunity to learn from experienced sales professionals and make your mark in the exciting world of Cyber Security sales. You will have the opportunity to learn directly from SEP2’s Vendors and will play a key part in our growth plans for 2023.

This accelerated sales programme will give you the foundations to build a successful sales career. With the right mindset and intuition, you could potentially be earning a salary in excess of £100,000 with-in 3 – 4 years.

More about the role:

After an initial 3-week intensive induction and training course you will be winning new business, gaining new customers and providing outstanding Cyber Security solutions that exceed expectations.

You will focus on building rapport with your customers and our vendors as well as conveying the SEP2 value proposition to everyone you meet. 

Working and interacting via telephone, email, social media and face-to-face, you will:

• Create strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities
• Work closely with Vendors maximising our working partnerships
• Identify and understand customer IT Security requirements, conveying the benefits of best-fit solutions
• Explain the value of the solution via online demonstrations, on-site meetings and product evaluations
• Work alongside other SEP2 team members to assist you in delivering the value proposition

From the outset, you’ll have the chance to take responsibility for your own projects, giving you an excellent opportunity to take charge and make your own mark within the industry.

Other duties will include

• Updating the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM)
• Reporting figures and statistics on a weekly basis
• Growing your network via social media and corporate events  

What you will need

• Self-motivation, enthusiasm and drive to succeed whilst in a highly pressurised sale environment.
• Excellent communication skills including telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
• Strong English verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate with professionals at all levels.

Your rewards

You’ll be starting on a salary between £21,000 – £23,000 per annum with on target earnings of £30,000 – £32,000 per annum. Commission is uncapped.

The Opportunity

As our company grows and we move from success to success, we are now looking for a Business Development Manager to advance sales of our cyber security solutions.

This fast-paced B2B role will see you identifying new customers and positioning SEP2 as the industry expert and technical authority for cyber security.

This role is all about winning new business, gaining new customers and providing outstanding solutions that exceed expectations.

You will focus on contacting new customers, building rapport and conveying the SEP2 value proposition to business customers.

Working via telephone, email, social media and face-to-face, you will:

• Identify and understand customers’ IT Security requirements, pitching the benefits of best-fit solutions
• Explain the value of the solution via online demonstrations, on-site meetings and product evaluations
• Work alongside other SEP2 team members to assist you in delivering the value proposition
• Negotiate the best pricing
• Assist the customer in building a business case
• Process sales once they are successfully signed off
• Ensure high-quality projects are always delivered

Commission and Accelerator Plan breakdown:

Target are based on Gross Profit.

50% of target = 10% of GP Paid in commission
100% of target = 20% of GP paid in commission
Once annual target is achieved all barriers are lifted
100% of target achieved by the end of Q3 = Presidents clubs of weekend away

Bonus = every £1 over 125% of target is paid at 30% each quarter.

What Will You Need?

To be considered as a Business Development Manager, you will need:

• Experience in B2B sales (ideally within the cyber security industry or similar)
• Self-motivation, enthusiasm and drive
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with those directly responsible for cyber security

Kieron has been with SEP2 since 2019 and works in our support team.

For Kieron, there is no typical day at SEP2, for one day he can be working through open tickets, another day you could be working on a priority case for the duration of the day, and another day you could be working on an ongoing project, but what Kieron enjoys is that the mix of challenges keeps the role fresh and interesting.

Kieron likes that within the support team everybody works well together, and shares knowledge between every level and are constantly being encouraged to learn.

In his spare time, Kieron’s current favourite hobby is working on his allotment, which gives him a nice change of scenery and a break from technology.
