I thought I would take this opportunity to start the week by sharing this “super secret” firewall tuning document from Check Point…
Nah just kidding, it’s been publicly available as a resource for as long as I can remember, version specific of course – which you can find here.
Much of our time in SEP2 Technical Services is spent optimising the firewall estate to produce a healthy, operationally effective and functional system tuned to your environment.
A question that always seems to get raised is why Check Point doesn’t do this “thing” or that “thing” by default?
Well the answer is quite simple, the default configuration fresh from box is designed to be as optimally configured as possible for as many customers as in one big catch all batch of settings. Now lets be fair, this often just generally works first time for the majority of our customers.
However, sometimes for customers with larger, complex and more bespoke environments need that little extra TLC to coax the optimum security effectiveness from their hardware by tuning parameters such as:
✅ SecureXL
✅ CoreXL
✅ HyperFlow
✅ Multi-Queue
One additional item that MUST also be considered that goes hand in hand with the above is:
✅Policy Optimisation
Of course, if all of this seems like a mystical dark art to you, not to worry! Here at SEP2 we excel in providing the highest levels of Technical Support and Professional Services using our large pool of CCSM Elite and CCSM resources to deliver our Health Check Service, or wrapped up into our industry leading Wingman Service all in one.
