Apprenticeships

Introducing SEP2

We are passionate about our apprenticeship scheme.

Apprentices are at the core of our business. From day one, you will be carrying out work that has a real impact on the company’s operations. We believe that our apprenticeship scheme is the best way to bring through the next generation of Cyber Security professionals.

Since our first intake of apprentices in 2020, our programme has gone from strength to strength. So much so that we were the winners of the Best Apprenticeship/Graduate Scheme award at the 2022 CRN Sales and Marketing Awards.

“I would always take passion over natural ability, I can teach most things. If you’re interested, passionate, and really want this then we can support you through your career at SEP2”

FAQs

Apprenticeships are open to everyone of any age from 16 upwards. SEP2 is extremely fortunate in having a variety of ages within the apprenticeship schemes from 17 – 40 years old.

SEP2 apprenticeships are delivered via the workplace with the flexibility of being able to do training and apprenticeship work virtually. On occasion, there may be the chance to go to a classroom for external training but this will be down to the apprentice.

Apprentices have to do off the Job training (OTJ) which equates to 20% of the working week. This means each week the apprentice will book out 1 day (this may be as a full day or two half days) and use this time to go on a course, complete apprenticeship work or work on their portfolio.

SEP2’s intention is that at the end of the apprenticeship we are able to offer the apprentice a full-time job.

No! SEP2 pay more than the apprenticeship minimum wage, with starting salary of £16,000 with incremental increases throughout depending on the specific apprenticeship length and structure.

SEP2 Apprenticeship Managers

Our People

Our apprenticeship scheme offers a level of support unmatched by other companies. In 2021 we appointed Dave Gore as Learning & Development Manager, a new role at SEP2. Part of his role includes having weekly catch-up sessions with our apprentices to offer guidance, support with their training, and to help keep them on the right track. Furthermore, we have dedicated apprentice managers for both the technical and sales team in Keiron and Tim respectively, which adds another level of hands-on support.

Our apprentices range in age from 17 to 40, we believe that if you are passionate enough, there is a place for you at SEP2. Whether you’re in the Sales Team, booking meetings with companies to discuss our services, or in the Technical Team, fixing problems for our customers, everyone is a valued member of our team and crucial to giving the best possible service to our customers.

Tech Driven. People Powered.

Kieron

Central Response Team Manager

Kieron has been with SEP2 since 2019 and works in our support team.

For Kieron, there is no typical day at SEP2, for one day he can be working through open tickets, another day you could be working on a priority case for the duration of the day, and another day you could be working on an ongoing project, but what Kieron enjoys is that the mix of challenges keeps the role fresh and interesting.

Kieron likes that within the support team everybody works well together, and shares knowledge between every level and are constantly being encouraged to learn.

In his spare time, Kieron’s current favourite hobby is working on his allotment, which gives him a nice change of scenery and a break from technology.
