August Personal Days Recap
Following the decision made in July by the Directors of SEP2, all employees of SEP2 recently received an additional 4 days of annual leave. During the month of August, our people were required to take one “personal day” per week, which was to be spent however they chose to spend it. We have since seen large companies such as Nike giving their head office staff time off for a “mental health break”. Â
After our initial blog post announcing our Personal Days in August, we decided to give you an update in how it worked for us as a business, and how the SEP2 people felt about their time to recharge.
Liam, a Business Development Manager from our Sales team said: “I was able to reset and play a relaxing 18 holes with my colleagues, leaving me with a clear head and ready to get stuck into work the next day.”Â
Natalie, SEP2 Company Secretary, got to spend some guilt-free time dedicated to her children instead of catching up on the washing and cleaning. Â
Adam, Principle Cyber Security Analyst, spent some time in the garden preparing for Autumn to keep his mind away from technology for a little while, which he felt put his mind in a better state, allowing him to organise himself better, both before and after his time off. Â
John, Principle Cyber Security Consultant, spent one of his personal days spending time with family at Scarborough beach, playing in the sand with his kids, eating fish and chips and was even lucky enough to spot a pod of dolphins in the sea! Â
James, a Business Development Apprentice, said: “Taking personal days increased my productivity because It gave me time to reflect on the work I completed during working days and focus on positives. It also helped me organise my personal life so I had fewer distractions during the 4 working days.”Â
Paul, a Director at SEP2, who contributed towards the decision of our team taking personal days says: “Giving our team the chance to get some much-needed respite through their Personal Days has allowed the team not only recharge, but it has helped us to reflect on the way we work on our own and how we collaborate. This allowed us to adapt and make the necessary changes to work better as a unit.”Â
Overall, our Personal Days have been a great success and we are so glad our teams had the opportunity to relax, spend time with family and have some well-deserved time to themselves. Â
